MY LIGHT
Losing everything to gain it all...
What's up Soul Warrior! I'm Alex...
A cancer survivor on a mission to help you find your purpose, live in love, and spread your light.
After being told I had a 15-30% of surviving cancer, I know how important it is to live fully NOW!
Now in complete remission, after an epic journey, I'm helping Soul Warriors find their voice of freedom.
Since my miraculous recovery, I’ve become an online thought leader, life coach, marketing consultant, and writer with TONS of free resources to help YOU find your light.
One of those creative babies is my podcast, SoulFeed, with co-host Shannon Algeo.
Soulfeed has been featured on iTunes “New and Noteworthy” list as a top-rated “Self-Help” podcast, reaching over 70,150 + fans a month in over 150 countries and all 50 states.
We’ve been blessed to interview some of the most inspirational leaders of our day including: Marianne Williamson, Gabby Bernstein, Deepak Chopra, Mastin Kipp, Pat Flynn, Gretchen Rubin, Seane Corn, Tim Gunn, and many many more!
These enlightening episodes have helped us reach thousands of Soul Warriors across the globe. Check out these killer pics of some of my favorite mentors:
Honestly though, SoulFeed is just one of the many resources that I’ve put my heart and soul in to.
BUT- before I tell you more about those - let me tell you a little about my story and why I'm here.
I had it all, until...
Years ago, I lost everything in one of the biggest battles of my life, and found myself asking, "Did I really live?"
Luckily, I got a second chance, and you can too.
You see, as a senior in the University of Michigan's musical theatre program, I was bound for Broadway with my dashing looks and angelic voice. I was a complete narcissist and loved every second onstage as my favorite role, Gaston from Beauty and The Beast, let me live out my egocentric fantasies!
To put it bluntly, I was a little obsessed with myself! *Spoiler alert: That was part of the problem.
My light was my voice. My entire identity was based solely on my ability to sing and wow an audience.
I was the "Big Man On Campus."
I was Superman.
I was pure ego.
Little did I know I was about to lose all my powers...
When I got cancer, I lost everything. Or so I thought...
Two weeks before graduating college, and embarking on a Broadway career, everything changed. First, I lost my singing voice. I had no idea why...
Then I got the answers...
It was cancer and I had a 15-30% chance of survival.
Kryptonite found it's way into my body and I was falling from the sky. I lost my powers... my singing voice... the one thing that made me alive!
Feeling lost and confused, I was left with only one question: "Why me?"
So how do you carry on when everything you thought you were disappears?
You fight for your light...
I knew I had a choice: I could give in to disease or get out of dis-ease.
I knew I was sick of being sick and tired!
I knew the only way to fly again was if I fought with all I had.
So that's exactly what I did! Immediately, I experienced what they call "post traumatic growth." No, not stress! Growth!
My mentor, Tony Robbins once said, "If you're not growing, you're dying."
Now this wasn't some catchy mantra for my life, it was reality. So I completely transformed and started changing everything: the way I thought, loved, ate, and exercised.
...and it saved me.
I had to go deep inside my soul to figure out how to heal.
I wanted to start a business and make money doing what I loved. I wanted to inspire the world with messages of hope. I wanted people to know the power within themselves to make a change.
So I started learning from the best in personal development, spirituality, and wellness. I knew I had to retrain my mind and body if I was going to thrive.
It took me years... But...
In the end, I beat cancer...
And discovered so much more!
Change is never easy, but when it’s life and death, it’s critical.
I started to wonder, "What if I could share what I learned with others? What if people could avoid everything I’d been through?"
I became obsessed with the idea. Once I had my freedom taken from me, I knew I had to help others keep theirs.
After coming so far, I knew I didn't want to go back to my old life, but that was all I knew!
So I kept asking, "How can I serve in a bigger way? How can I teach the world to own their inner strength?"
That's when I started...
Speaking, writing, coaching, and sharing my experience. There was so much nobody told me that I had to figure out on my own.
People need to know the truth about what's going on in their mind and bodies.
First, I wrote and produced a play called, MY OTHER VOICE, that was featured on PBS and NPR.
Then I started doing videos and speaking engagements for major companies like UnitedHealthcare.
Finally I started coaching companies and future thought leaders to step into their power.
I finally learned the key to life...
Loving and contributing to something bigger than yourself...
I learned, it's not all about me! Shocking huh?!
Giving back to causes bigger than myself became my only concern, like riding 100 miles for a cancer research ride called Pelotonia after six rounds of chemotherapy, or working with Livestrong to put on benefit concerts.
I got high off the feeling! So I continued building a business around my passion: speaking, coaching, marketing messages of hope, and doing anything I could to help others.
Past surviving, now thriving...
My eyes had finally been opened... love and contribute to something bigger than yourself.
Truthfully, part of my ego had to die so my spirit could be reborn! Once you shatter your identity, and your limiting beliefs, you'll realize you are so much more than you thought... in fact, you have infinite potential living inside of you!
I'm not unique, it's waiting to burst out of you too!
If I did all that after being told I had a 15-30% chance of survival, 6 rounds of chemotherapy, a stem-cell transplant, and radiation, then what's possible for you?
I'll teach you to how overcome "unbeatable" odds in your life, business, and relationships through my transformational coaching.
As a speaker, writer, and actor.
I've created the life I want by helping Soul Warriors create the life they want.
By combining my story, performance experience, marketing skills, and coaching training as a Tony Robbins-Cloe Madanes Certified strategic interventionist, I help future thought leaders expand their message online and beyond.
Like you, I’ve had some really blessed moments from creating a top-rated podcast, starring in shows, surviving cancer, being called a "Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Hero,” featured on NPR, the Huffington Post, and speaking at major health conferences.
So my only question is...
Are you ready to step into your light?
Then sign up for my free videos, blogs, and podcasts...
Ultimately, I'm on this journey just like you. I humbly hope you...
Live in love & spread your light.
